So what's a "Mail List" aka "Reflector" aka "E-Mail Newsletter"???  One of the wonders of the internet is the "Reflector" as it is a method of mailing and receiving specific topic information to/from a select group of folks interested in a specific discipline. You must subscribe to a Reflector, Mail List, or E-Mail Newsletter. Typically you have to send your e-mail address (callsign in some cases) and register. A Reflector only distributes mail to its subscribers. 

This is in contrast to News Groups which do not require subscribing -- Only setting up an NNTP in your browser --   For NewsGroups - Click Here
Many of the reflectors will respond to you if you need help and more information. Type help or info in the message line -- for example: Send mail to listserv@majordomo.netcom.com with text (not subject): info listname

In general, to subscribe, send E-Mail to the "-request" address and type "subscribe" in the body of the message. The server will respond with a message of confirmation. See specific instructions with each Mail List.
